TEHRAN – A new luxurious train has been launched between Tehran and the shrine city of Mashhad, northeast of the country.

The five-star train, titled “Fadak”, joined Iran’s rolling stock during a ceremony on Sunday.

The German-made train features 4-bunk compartments, and has well-trained, well-educated male and female hosts onboard to serve passengers.

The train is equipped with Wi-Fi system as well as IP TV and GPS. Adjustable lighting system in the compartments, adjustable air conditioning systems, and attendant call system is amongst facilities provided at the train.

The services are offered in three railroad classes, the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAJA) Director Mohsen Purseyyedaghaei said during the ceremony.

Iran will import over 200 luxurious trains to the rolling stock in coming months, the head of RAJA said.

In April 2015, the first luxurious train named Zendegi joined Tehran-Mashhad rail route, which was welcomed by the passengers.

During past months, several luxury European trains carrying tourists entered Iran including Golden Eagle Danube Express.

Director of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicraft Organization Masoud Soltanifar announced previously that Iran’s capacity for rail tourism will be doubled in the near future.
